About me

I’m a cook
I’m a mother
I’m a writer
I’m an udder
Like a giant milk machine
It’s so weary I could scream
But I write
To find the light
In the middle of the night
No I wouldn’t have it any other way

[Thanks to Meredith Brooks for the inspiration]

No, but really…

Hi, I’m Shahnaz. I’m an author (check out my books) and food writer. I am also a mother of two. This newsletter will mainly be about how I juggle (or don’t juggle) all of those things, in our Muslim-Jewish-British-Bangladeshi interfaith family.

Born and raised in West Yorkshire, England, I have been fortunate enough to live in the US, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, but my flattened Northern vowels remain victorious.
